Our Physicians

Gregory S. Windham, M.D.

Dr. Windham, who has practiced medicine in Cullman since 1982 and is the founder of Surgical Arts, P.C., was born in England, grew up in Memphis, Tenn., and graduated from high school in Russellville, Ala. His undergraduate studies were completed with "high honors" at Auburn University where he was also a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta premedical honorary society.

Dr. Windham and his wife, Malinda, have three grown children and nine grandchildren. He and his family enjoy spending time together hunting, and traveling.

William E. Smith, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Smith, who is certified by the American Board of Surgery, grew up in Demopolis, Alabama. He completed his B.S. degree in Chemistry at the University of Alabama and obtained his M.D. degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Following an Internship in General Surgery, Dr. Smith completed his Surgery Residency at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham.

During his training, Dr. Smith was active in nutrition research, presenting his results at the Southern Medical Association annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas and the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He was also active in development of the Trauma Service and “Life Saver” helicopter transport system at Carraway Methodist Medical Center where he served as Chief Surgery Resident.

William E. Smith, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.

J.W. Evans, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Evans joined Surgical Arts, P.C. in August 1992. He is a native of Neosho, Missouri. He was awarded an academic scholarship to the University of Missouri where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and Pi Omicron Sigma Honorary Society for leadership. Continuing his studies there, he received a Master of Science degree in 1983 prior to attending medical school at Ross University. His surgical training was obtained at the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center and the Chicago Medical School in Chicago, IL. During his final year of residency he served as a clinical instructor and Chief Administrative Resident for the Department of Surgery. He served on the Trauma Committee, Operating Room Committee, and Education Committee.

Dr. Evans and his wife, Dianne, have three children and are members of First United Methodist Church. Dr. Evans is an avid hunter and he and his family are very active in outdoor recreation and sports.

Brad R. Moody, M.D.

Dr. Moody joined the practice in July of 2010. He was raised on a small family farm by his parents, Dr. Moody is a native of Cullman County. He attended Cullman High School graduating in 1996 among the top of his class. He received a scholarship to Huntingdon College graduating summa cum laude with a double major in Chemistry and Biology. He soughtmedical training at the University of South Alabama School of Medicine obtaining his M.D. degree in 2005. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Following his love for surgery, Dr. Moody completed his surgical Internship and Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center serving as Chief Surgical Resident. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He is board certified by the American College of Surgery. He is certified in the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery, Advanced Cardiac Life Support as well as Advanced Trauma Life Support.

Brad R. Moody, M.D.

Stephen A. McBride, II., M.D.

Dr. Stephen McBride joined Surgical Arts in August of 2017. Dr. McBride was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and grew up in his hometown of Aliceville, Alabama. He completed his bachelor of science degree in Sports Medicine at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. During this time, he was elected to the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, and served as vice president of the Student Government Association. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and graduated in May 2012. He received the Argus Award in 2011. Dr. McBride completed his general surgery residency at Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia in June of 2017. He served on the Resident Council during this time.

In Dr. McBride’s free time, he enjoys college football, grilling out, being outdoors, hiking and going to the gym.

Kim Graves, CRNP

Kim Graves, CRNP joined Surgical Arts, PC in January of 2006. She is affiliated with Dr. Gregory S. Windham and Dr. William E. Smith of Surgical Arts, PC. Kim had thirteen years of prior nursing experience which focused on the care of both ICU and surgical patients. Kim assists in the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients both in the office as well as those hospitalized at Cullman Regional.

Kim was born in Mobile, Alabama. She grew up in Cullman and graduated from Cold Springs High School. Kim obtained her RN degree from Wallace State College in 1993 and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama. Kim is board certified as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Alabama in February of 2006. Because of her academic achievements she was inducted into the nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau.
